A creative workshop suitable for beginners, those who attended the Introduction to batik or layering colour batik workshops, or those with more experience.   Work on creating an individual hand painted cotton batik piece of artwork or a hand painted silk scarf. During the workshop you will:

• Create test samples using molten wax from a heated pot and tools including tjantings and brushes.

• With guidance plan and sketch a design for a larger cotton or silk piece

• Alternate hand painted dyes and wax to build up your design in layers

• Iron out the wax afterwards to reveal the finished design

Please bring an apron or old shirt and ideas for a pattern-based image for inspiration.  You will be contacted to confirm if you would like to work on a silk scarf blank or a cotton piece stretched on a frame to work on
